25. Editions, stability, publishing

This edition does not carry this chapter.

Three mechanisms make up its subject, and the toolchain this edition names carries none of them in a form a reader can run: an edition key that changes how a package is compiled, a standard library on the page to depend on, and a publish client that ships owner/pkg with its capabilities declared. wolf publish is not a command here, use std.io resolves to nothing, and a manifest’s edition key changes no compilation. The section numbers are reserved and the pages are not written.

What is real and is taught: §22.2’s export hash, which is the number semantic versioning is computed against, and §23.1 and §23.3, which are the manifest and the integrity ledger a publish would write into. Chapter 24 is the capability story those declarations feed.
